Terminals

Every terminal your agents run in.

Click a session in Perch and land in the exact pane, split, tab or conversation in six apps, the right pane inside tmux, herdr and Zellij, and the right app everywhere else.

Inside tmux, herdr and Zellij

A session inside a multiplexer gets its pane selected first, then the terminal showing it comes forward — whichever of the terminals above that is.

Where your phone can type a reply

Typing from the iPhone is a Perch Pro feature, and it needs a pane Perch can address without the screen. Approvals don’t: they work in every terminal.

tmux or herdr, in any terminalYesInto the agent's own pane, with the Mac locked. Droid: tmux, not herdr.
RexYesThrough Rex's own server, no tmux needed.
Codex in its default modeYesThrough Codex's background service, whatever the terminal.
OpenCodeYesThrough OpenCode's own server. OpenCode 1 needs --port.
A plain Warp, iTerm2, Ghostty or Terminal tabNoRun the agent inside tmux or herdr there. The Mac notification can still take a reply.

And everywhere else, the right app

kitty, WezTerm, Alacritty, Hyper, Tabby, VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf don’t offer a way to pick a pane, so a click brings the app forward. Claude Desktop is raised the same way, and a terminal Perch doesn’t recognise is opened by name, as a best effort.

Questions

Terminals, specifically

Which terminal is best for Claude Code with Perch?
Any of them for watching and approving: approvals go through Claude Code's hooks, whatever the terminal. For the jump, Warp, iTerm2 and Rex land on the exact pane with no permission prompt. For typing replies from your phone, run Claude Code inside tmux or herdr, or use Rex, which needs neither.
Do approvals from my phone depend on the terminal?
No, except for Droid. Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Devin approvals go through the agent itself, so Allow and Deny work on your iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac notification wherever the session runs. Droid's are keys Perch presses in tmux.
My terminal isn't listed. What happens when I click?
Perch opens it by the name the session reported, as a best effort, and falls back to showing the project's folder in Finder. A click is never dead.
Why do Ghostty and Terminal.app ask for permission when Warp doesn't?
Warp, iTerm2 and Codex Desktop each have a link that focuses a specific pane or conversation, and opening a link needs no permission. Ghostty and Terminal.app have none, so Perch asks them through AppleScript, which macOS gates behind a one-time Automation prompt.
